St. Joseph Hospital announces the selection of Hope Darrow as chief nursing officer

Most recently served as a national director of emergency and inpatient services for Tenet Healthcare

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (May 21, 2019) – Hope Darrow, MA, BSN, RN, has been chosen to be the new chief nursing officer at St. Joseph Hospital. Her first day is June 3.

For most of the past five years, Darrow has been with Tenet Healthcare serving hospitals in its western region. Beginning in 2016, she ascended to the position of national director of emergency and inpatient services where her primary focus was performance excellence and optimization.

With more than 30 years of nursing experience including multiple leadership roles in critical care and emergency services, Darrow brings with her to St. Joe a strong focus on improved clinical operational performance, as well as best practice development and implementation. Her responsibilities at the national level have included supporting more than 50 hospitals with initiatives to drive quality improvement and patient experience, in addition to providing interim nursing leadership in several of those markets.

“Hope is an exceptional executive leader with many years of success in operational, service, cultural and quality excellence,” said Natalie Seaber, chief nursing officer, Lutheran Health Network. “She is a positive influencer and great partner to have join our team.”

Darrow’s expertise includes development and implementation of nursing strategies to enhance patient-centered care; building stronger collaboration among units for greater alignment; and Cerner electronic health record implementation and optimization — areas of emphasis that fit well with current strategic initiatives at St. Joe.

Darrow earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas, and a master’s in management and leadership from Webster University in Webster Groves, Missouri.
